Bonnie Putterman, Attorney at Law

Bonnie Putterman graduated from Stockton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 1985. Prior to attending law school she worked as an Atlantic County Probation Officer and a Bail Intake Officer at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. In 1990 she graduated from Widener University School of Law with her Juris Doctorate. While attending Widener University she was awarded the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Award for Outstanding Achievement in Trial Advocacy.

Bonnie started her legal career interning at both the Atlantic and Burlington County Prosecutor’s Offices. Upon graduation she worked as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Robert Neustadter, J.S.C. and Honorable Arthur Guerrera, J.S.C. in the Criminal Division.

In 1992, she founded the Law Offices of Bonnie D. Putterman. The firm focused on litigating and representing people and businesses from all walks of life in criminal, municipal court, real estate and family matters.

The office of Bonnie D. Putterman has been located in the center of Mays Landing, New Jersey, the county seat of Atlantic County for almost 30 years.

Bonnie has experience preparing and trying numerous cases in both Municipal and State court. Currently she is the Public Defender in Egg Harbor Township and conflict Municipal Public Defender in Ocean City, New Jersey.

In addition to managing a successful law firm, Bonnie currently serves as an MESP panelist in Atlantic County. Bonnie is a former member of the District I Ethics Committee. Bonnie is also a court appointed Guardian ad Litem for children who need their voices heard as a result of custody and support disputes in Atlantic County. Bonnie is a trained mediator and participates in the collaborative divorce process with her clients. She also sits on the Board and volunteers for South Jersey Legal Services an organization that provides free services to the indigent. Additionally she was recently selected to sit on a panel for Parenting Coordinators for the Superior Court of New Jersey.

In 2018 Bonnie was awarded the Best Lawyers for Families for providing exceptional counsel to New Jersey Families.

Bonnie has represented a wide range of clients and several notable high-profile clients. Bonnie represented a defendant charged with a triple homicide which was one of the last death penalty cases in New Jersey. She successfully saved her clients life by preventing him from being sentenced to the death penalty. The death penalty has since been abolished in NJ.

She has successfully represented individuals who were charged in very complex  racketeering cases ( “RICO” ) as well as many other criminal matters.

Bonnie’s knowledge of DUI and substance use issues is tremendous. She is always willing to assist clients in finding outside services when they are in need of assistance.

In her spare time she is devoted and passionate about her Alma Mater Stockton University where she proudly sits on the Foundation Board. She also sits as a member of the Linwood City Planning Board since 2014.

Bonnie is admitted to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
